My Own Personal Fitness Journey

It all started after having kids and putting on a little baby weight with each pregnancy. I didn't love the way my body looked or the way I felt anymore and I just couldn't figure out why my youthful, pre-pregnancy metabolism wouldn't kick in so I could continue eating whatever I wanted whenever I wanted without gaining a pound. I'd go through cycles where I would diet and exercise like crazy - following any new fitness program that promised me quick and relatively painless results - and then I would go back on cruise control expecting that for sure this time my good old pre-pregnancy metabolism had finally been jumpstarted and was in good working order again. Of course then I would go back to eating anything and everything like the laws of physics just didn't apply to me. I mean, this had been true for me my whole life up until having kids, so it must be my awesome genetics, right? It would all kick back in, right? WRONG!

Finally, after several years of the yo-yo effect, I realized that I would have to change something. Just as the saying goes: if you change nothing, nothing will change. I realized that if I wanted to lose weight and keep it off, I needed to change something - something more permanent. If I didn’t want to find myself back in the same position a few months later I needed to make changes for the long haul.
The two areas I knew I had to focus on were nutrition and exercise. I decided to do my research and make research-based changes that have been tested and proven to provide a healthy lifestyle. And as for exercise, I decided that if I wanted my body to look like all the other ladies out there who work out, I should probably start working out - regularly and for the long term. In January, I started P90X3 and drinking Shakeology and lost 13 lbs! And then in March, I decided to try out the 21 Day Fix, while continuing to drink Shakeology everyday, and lost another 7 lbs! I love my healthier body and how I feel. I am not yet to my goal, but I am on a journey. It’s about a healthy lifestyle for me, not a quick fix. And I must say, the good choices I made that helped me lose 20 lbs have led to other very healthy choices, not just for me, but for my family and many other people around me.

Talk about feeling extraordinary! I hope this inspires you to make some changes that will make you feel extraordinary too!
